If you have successfully managed to secure your first job, you will, more than likely, be required to do several training shifts. It is also probably the case that you have been placed on a period of what, in the business world, is called probation.
While you have, for all intents and purposes, got the position, and this is to be congratulated, you are not entirely on firm ground as yet. Your superiors will continue to evaluate and assess your performance during this preliminary period, and it is important that you don't make too many blunders.
While it is inevitable that some mistakes will be made, you should take care to conform well in certain basic areas. For example, your dress should be correct. If you are working in a suit-and-tie office environment, don't arrive on your first day wearing Adidas trainers.
Having made this point, however, it is also important to stress that you don't stir yourself into a panic. You can't perform well or learn anything in a state of high anxiety. Try to relax; your first day will, more than likely, be difficult enough without nerves hindering you as well.
In short, landing a first job is a great achievement. It is important, however, that you manage to go unscathed through the initial obstacles of training and probation in the business environment.
